I am absolutely outraged by the atrocities in Paris but just as outraged that I’m being coerced into moderating the way I express my feelings about them in public.
If I call the perpetrators terrorists or a death cult this could apparently cause much upset to Muslims and heaven help me if I call them Muslims. Mentioning that they have anything to do with Islamic State is an absolute anathema to mullahs and Grand Muftis.
Referring to them as the Islamic State Muslim terrorist death cult could I’m assured raise global moral outrage to uncontrollable levels.
Instead of giving way to an irresistible urge to choke the living shit out of these terrorist bastards I’m being urged to stay calm and await a carefully considered response while accepting that ‘boots on the ground’ is a wholly unacceptable option.
There have however been glimmers of hope for a proportionate response. The French President Hollande actually declared war on Islamic State. That must have caused unprecedented moral outrage amongst ISIL and seriously shocked Obama.
A commentator on French television really hit the nail on the head. He said it’s no use trying to appease Islamic State unless you’re handing them the keys to the Global Caliphate.
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon hoped the response to the ISIL atrocities would be humane and within the rules of war. I fear there’s nothing humane or within the rules of war that would have any effect on them.
Malcolm is giving deep consideration to a considered response and Obama is being dragged kicking and screaming into giving the whole thing some consideration.
I’m pinning my hopes for the future of civilisation on Putin, Hollande, Abbott, Pauline Hanson and Jacqui Lambie. At the moment they seem to be the only ones likely to cause unease in Islamic State.
The only person in Australia whom it’s possible to shit-can without causing a storm of moral outrage is Tony Abbott but even the Greens haven’t gone as far as blaming him for Paris.
Whilst I am mindful of the imperative not to upset sensitivities in the Muslim community I am very concerned that if Malcolm doesn’t come up with a decisive response to terrorism soon albeit considered there will be an explosion of public opinion that will leave him dumbfounded.
