It’s not been a good week for the Coalition and the general populace. From Tony Abbott being horribly abused to Turnbull’s train pickle we’ve seen the whole gamut. On the campaign trail in Western Sydney yesterday, Malcolm was shoulder-to-shoulder with the people, but those same people avoided his touch like a disturbed moggy.
The clip above is like the Zapruder footage. Hard to watch. There’s Mal, uber genial, welcoming the voter onto the train, who changes her normative course when faced with the unfamiliar interloper in her path. Somehow the collected media did not jog her memory, instead choosing to query the erudite stranger.
It’s not even Malcolm’s fault. What kind of train conductor wears a $1,000 suit?
What a terrible job, being a politician in this country. Trying to motivate a population who either a) loathe you outright or b) give you what for. If Malcolm is to win this election, all he needs to do is embrace the awkwardness, and hope it doesn’t get to a DEFCON 1 or Abbott-grade level of criticism.
