Following revelations from Prince Harry that no member of the Royal Family is eager for promotion to King or Queen it has emerged that one of the Her Majesty’s corgis has expressed a keen interest.

The Queen is yet to comment but is known to be in consultation with the RSPCA.

Prince Philip is in favour because he believes it could put an end to the scandals that have dogged the Royal Family despite the inherent risk of creating another monarch who is absolutely barking.

Prince Charles is thought to be uneasy about the prospect of being replaced by the hair of the dog.

The Duchess of Cornwall is convinced her husband is still a better option and is prepared to show him at Crufts to prove it.

There is concern in the Royal Household about the prospect of the Crown becoming dog-eared and whether such a Monarch would be satisfactorily Palace-trained.

The Prime Minister is known to be worried about the possibility that a new Monarch could turn out to be a complete dogsbody.
