I was gobsmacked when the ABC’s Lateline Show invited viewers to respond to the question “Should Donald Trump be banned from entering Australia?”

It’s not clear why they’re so keen on banning him but presumably it’s not so much that he’s a security threat but rather that he’s guilty of the far more serious offence of non-compliance with the ABC’s political agenda.

It’s thought unlikely the ABC will canvass views about whether Hillary should be banned from entering Australia pending investigation of her by the FBI on at least two serious matters and whether Bernie Sanders should be treated likewise in view of his avowed intention to destroy the capitalist system.

It’s possible that if Trump does attempt to reach Australia the ABC will make an exception in his case by supporting his transfer to Manus Island.

Predictably the reaction of ABC viewers to the question about Trump was resoundingly positive. This could lead to the alienation of a future US President, the end of the ANZUS Treaty and Netflix being switched off.

It’s entirely possible that the US Government could retaliate against a Trump ban by banning all sight and sound of the ABC from the US thus creating a win-win situation.

About this Series
As one of Australia’s leading social commentators A Hole is always conscious of the need to avoid making an arse of himself. His commentaries are frequently compared to the material on the walls of public toilets although they don’t remain in the public consciousness anything like as long.
