Switched off

If the Greens’ energy policy was implemented nationally then on windless days when the sun didn’t shine the whole country would resemble Queensland Nickel.

Human wrongs

Gillian Triggs is absolutely right. We’ve got enough crazy political parties around without trying to turn Bob Brown’s Foundation into yet another.

Popularity of populism

Rutte defeated Wilders in the Netherlands election essentially by nicking some of his populist immigration policies. Does this mean that populist policies are ok so long as they’re practised by non-populist politicians?

PM prospects

Having suffered Kevin, Julia, Kevin again, Tony and now Malcolm surely it’s time for Australians to ensure they get a PM they deserve at the next election rather than just Bill or Malcolm again. Outstanding applicants for the position should write to the Editor of Friday Mash for an interview. Applications from non-politicians are encouraged although Trump enthusiasts should be keenly aware of what happened to Clive in his bid to become PM.

Electric shock

The Snowy Mountains Scheme Mark II could be a sign that Malcolm is at last coming to power.

Closing the gate

Experts believe that Trump Towergate has no chance of overshadowing Watergate. Obama’s plumbers probably just fixed the bathrooms and didn’t create anything like the smell that Nixon’s did.

About this Series
This is the column with insights that all the other publications seem unable to cope with. That’s arguably because they take politics far too seriously.
