The Greeks and French are not totally opposed to the concept of austerity. Indeed they can clearly see the economic benefits of it being practised in Germany. What Makes Us Special,
Friday Mash is special because we believe in a unique style of satire and we stick to it
We reject the view that satire is an ‘anything goes’ medium and we eschew the huge potential from invective, smear, vitriol and bad taste.
It has to be admitted that despite our best efforts there are times we stray across the fine line which separates satire from sarcasm, cynicism and prejudice. This is in the face of extreme provocation but we’re not proud of it.
We are also different because much of our satire is created in the form of written dialogue, a style which affords us unique potential in developing satirical characterisations.
Satire we believe should always aim to be uplifting not destructive, enriching not offensive.
We are delighted to have created a satirical style sufficiently special to be selected for inclusion in the Australian National Archive. Whitehall is still unsure of Friday Mash so we have yet to be invited for inclusion in the British Library’s Online Catalogue & Archives.
