An Everyday Story of Royal Folk
As Michael said to me the other day ‘Carole’ he said ‘who would have thought it, our Kate a Duchess’
‘I know’ I said ‘it seems like only yesterday she was just a face on one our paper plate designs’
Of course we’ve seen it coming for some years now. But we never quite knew for sure because the Royals are such a strange lot and I was frightened the Queen might find out we’ve already got a paper plate design in readiness for Charles’ coronation.
Still it’s all been good for business. I reckon we’d have to go public if Pippa married Harry.
I must say Kate’s wedding will take some beating. I couldn’t fault a thing about it really and we were particularly impressed by the church they chose for the ceremony and especially the pad they came up with for the reception.
Of course Michael and I had always dreamed about Kate marrying in our local church at Bucklebury. We had planned a special Party Pieces production with custom designed cups, plates and decorations. Nick could have supplied all the food and wines and Pippa’s a wiz at organising major events.
Pippa’s recently become such a celebrity that Party Pieces is planning to hire her out to parties at five hundred quid an hour.
Will says he’s going to involve us in royal activities as much as possible but hopefully he won’t overdo it. Activities with his family tend to go on all day and cost a fortune in clothes. And if we’re invited to Balmoral it will take a week to get there and back and we’ve got a business to run.
As I said to Kate I wouldn’t mind if there was an order or two in prospect for Party Pieces and then we could put it all down as business expenses.
Michael says that while there’s no chance of a royal warrant for Party Pieces we should get one as an official purveyor of duchesses to the Royal Family.
Meanwhile life goes on. I’ve just had a woman on the phone complaining that the paper plates we sent her are the wrong design and when I told her it was exactly what she ordered and what’s more she was an idiot she asked me who the hell I thought I was. I asked her if a reference from the Queen would suffice.
Hopefully Kate and Will can come to stay for a few days soon preferably over the long weekend in June. That’s normally a very busy time for Party Pieces and we could do with some extra help packing the orders.
