As Mac the plumber was sipping a heart starter in his favourite downtown Boston coffee shop he was suddenly confronted by a dynamic vision of womanhood.

Was it a desperate housewife or that woman he contacted last week through the dating website? No it was Palinpower.

‘Hi there’ said Palinpower ‘good to meet you. I’m Palinpower’

‘Great to meet you Palinpower’ said Mac ‘but don’t you normally fly in?’

‘Thought I’d bus it for a change’ said Palinpower ‘if I’m seen travelling around on a bus it gives people the impression that I’m on the move and actually going places. By the way I have a question for you. Would you vote for me as president?’

‘President of what’ asked Mac ‘the bus company?’

‘No, no’ said Palinpower ‘President of the USA’

‘Well look Palinpower’ said Mac ‘I can’t say that I’m all that keen because all you seem focused on is Tea Parties and don’t seem to give a stuff about us coffee drinkers. I’m interested to see your mode of transport because frankly I thought you’d missed the bus’

‘On the contrary’ said Palinpower ‘I’m just easing myself into the driving seat’

‘I see you’ve got ‘One Nation’ written down the side of your bus’ said Mac ‘what does that mean?’

‘It means we don’t pick up illegal Hispanic hitchhikers’ said Palinpower

‘Mitt Romney comes around here you know’ said Mac ‘he’s a pretty good guy’

‘But don’t tell me you’d vote for him’ said Palinpower ‘rather than me’

‘The only difference is’ said Mac ‘that he took us for a ride on healthcare while you’re trying to take us for a ride on a bus’

‘I’m merely dipping my toe in the presidential waters’ said Palinpower

‘Then you should be on a boat’ said Mac ‘rather than a bus’

‘I’m out here learning how to be the people’s champion’ said Palinpower

‘Then you should get yourself a coach rather than a bus’ said Mac

‘Can I give you a lift somewhere?’ asked Palinpower

‘Sure’ said Mac ‘back at my place for half an hour’

‘Have you got any advice I could take away with me?’ asked Palinpowr

‘Yes’ said Mac ‘if you want to become President of the USA you have to understand that bus tours are not allowed into the White House and if you want to become president of the bus company you’ll have to learn that you can’t park there because it’s a no-stopping zone’

‘I’m driving a bus-lead recovery for America’ said Palinpower ‘If people spent more time on buses it would prevent Obama bringing this country to a standstill’

With that Palinpower drove off leaving Mac to ponder whether her bus tour would be more successful if it was non-stop.
